Hello friends! My name is Ian Maksin (YAN MAK-sin), and I would like to personally invite you to my concert! I started playing cello when I was 6 years old after I heard it on an old record and fell in love with its profound and sound. It seemed like it was penetrating all the way to the deepest corners of the soul. I do believe that cello vibrations can be healing and can bring peace inside our personal Universe. I write my own music for cello, augmented by use of loop pedal and other electronics that help me turn one cello into an entire orchestra. The music I write is inspired by traditional music of Central Asia, Middle East, West Africa. In many of those cultures, music has been traditionally the centerpiece of spirituality and healing. I also sing traditional and popular songs from over 50 countries in 40 languages including Turkish, Arabic, Hebrew, Armenian, Georgian, Ukrainian, Polish, Farsi, Mongolian, French, Italian, and many others. I am grateful for the opportunity to share my music with you and hope that it will be an enriching and empowering experience for you and your loved ones!

BREAKING BOUNDARIES both musical and geographical, cellist, composer and multilingual vocalist IAN MAKSIN has created his own unique style by blending elements of different genres and traditional music from around the globe in a new way using his cello as the main unifying force.

ONE-MAN ORCHESTRA: Ian Maksin is breaking geographic boundaries by blending many genres and styles using the cello as the main common denominator. In addition to cello, he used an electronic device called the loop pedal, which allows him to create "loops" or layers by recording and replaying his own playing in real time.
